According to Ashley Gearhardt, a researcher who focuses on food addiction at the University of Michigan establish the guidelines that highly processed foods can lead to signs of addiction like loss of control, tolerance and withdrawal.
“Kids may even get more prone to junk food addiction that adults because their brain haven’t develop impulse control yet.The more they are exposed to junk foods, the more they are going to meet up with problems in later life. “says Gearhardt.

1. About Ragi

3. How To Sprout Ragi And Make Your Own Ragi Flour At Home?
- Wash and clean the finger millets your bought in clean water. Drain the water and repeat the process till the water runs clean.
- Soak the grains overnight.
- After soaking them, drain the water the next day. Place a cloth on top of the steamer and place ragi on top of it.
- Spread it around with your hands that they are not sticking with each other.
- Bring the ends of cloth together and close it on top of it.
- Let it sit for 8-9 hours.Small sprouts will appear.
- If you are in summer, it will take 8-9 hours to sprout.Otherwise,it will take longer time.
- Let them sit for another 8 hours.You will see longer sprouts.
- Spread them in a cotton cloth.Let it dry completely. Don’t forget to refrigerate them.
4. How To Make Ragi Flour At Home?
- Dry roast the sprouted ragis in a skillet on low heat.
- It roasts pretty fast, hence regular stirring by the side with full attention is needed.
- Cool it completely. This is to prevent lumps when your grind them.
- You can go to your nearest mill to grind them.
- Or you can grind them using food processor.
- Make sure the flour is cooled down and keep them in a airtight container inside the refrigerator.

How To Make HomeMade Ragi Cookies?
- Ragi flour – 1/2 cup
- Organic jaggery – 1/2 cup
- Wheat flour. – 1/2 cup
- Cold butter. – 50 grams
- Milk. – 2 tbsps to knead the dough
- Mix the wheat and ragi flour together.
- Add the cold butter and mix it with your hand.
- Add the jaggery powder or jaggery syrup. You can also use date sugar.
- Add milk to get the correct consistency of dough. Keep an eye that you should not use more water and it will get ruined.
- Roll the dough well and refrigerate.
- After half an hour, divide the flour, roll in ball with your hands and flatten it to make a cookie shape.
- Arrange the cookies and stripe three lines in it for even heating. You can garnish them with raisins or nuts. Bake them in a preheated oven for 15-20 mins at 180°C till they get brown at the bottom. (Baking time depends on size of cookies and oven). Let them cool in the tray for 5 mins.
