Recipe with Foxtail Millet Flakes/ Thinai Avul

All of us are familiar with the versatility of flakes/aval. They can be used to prepare a variety of mouth-watering dishes. But sometimes we might get tired of trying out the same old recipes. And that is why we have decided to share a special recipe that will never bore the Taste buds.

 Ingredients:

  • ½ cup foxtail millet flakes
  • 250 ml Milk (full fat preferentially)
  • 100 ml water
  • 3 tbsp condensed milk
  • 1 tsp ghee
  • 1 tsp cashews

Method:   

Thoroughly clean the millet flakes in water and keep them aside for 5-10 mins.

In a saucepan, boil the milk with the 100 ml of water taken. Add the flakes and cook well.

 After 5 mins, once the mixture is blended, add the condensed milk and stir it together. Boil it for 2-3 mins.

In a small pan, heat ghee and roast cashews in it until golden brown.

Add a bit of cardamom powder to the kheer and top it with roasted cashews.
