Mahua Oil / Illupai Ennai

Mahua Oil is extracted from the seeds of Madhuca Indica tree / Mahua longifolia. It is widely known as Iluppai or vippa chettu.

Iluppai oil is used as lamp oil/deepam oil. Iluppai tree is one of the ancient tree in India which grows abundantly in the forest and is well known by the botanical name of Maducha Langifolia.

The seeds contain a fatty oil and the astringent bark has medicinal properties.

The fat of this oil is mainly used for the care of the skin, to manufacture soap or detergents, and as a vegetable butter.
