இலுப்பெண்ணெய்: (Illupai Ennai)
இலுப்பை மரம் இந்தியாவைத் தாயகமாகக் கொண்ட ஒரு மரமாகும். கொத்துக் கொத்தான நீண்ட இலைகளையும் கொத்தான வெண்ணிற மலர்களையும் முட்டை வடிவ சதைக்கனியையும் நொறுங்கக் கூடிய உறையினால் மூடப்பெற்ற விதையினையும் கொண்டது இலுப்பை மரம். சாறு, பால் தன்மை கொண்டது. இந்த மரம் இருப்பை, ஓமை என்ற பெயர்களாலும் குறிப்பிடப்படுகிறது.
திருவிளக்கெண்ணெய்:
இதன் விதையிலிருந்து பிழிந்தெடுக்கப்படும் எண்ணெய் இலுப்பெண்ணெய் எனப்படுகின்றது. இந்த எண்ணெய் விளக்கெரிக்கப் பயன்படுகிறது. இதற்காகவே திருக்கோயில் சார்ந்த இடங்களில் தோப்பு தோப்பாக வளர்க்கப்பெற்றது; காடுகளிலும் தானே வளர்கிறது.
இலுப்பெண்ணெய் சகல தேவர்களிற்கும், சகல தெய்வங்களுக்கும், சிவனுக்கும் பிரியமானது. ஆலயங்களில் தீபமேற்ற சிறந்தது இலுப்பை எண்ணெய்தான். முன்பு பெரும்பாலான சிவாலயங்களில் இதனால் தான் தீபமேற்றப்பட்டது. இலுப்பெண்ணெய்யை ஆலயங்களின் தீபம் ஏற்றுவதற்கு வழங்குவதன் மூலம் காரியங்கள் வெற்றிபெறும் என்பது இந்துக்களின் அசைக்கமுடியாத நம்பிக்கை. எனவே இதனை விடச் சிறந்த எண்ணெய் பூலோகத்தில் இல்லையென்றே கூறப்படுகிறது.
