Nutritious Diet List Found For Your 6 Months Old Baby!

Babies are bundles of milk-sick giggles. Every parent knows that first year with baby is both challenging and exciting.
All babies are drinking either breast milk or infant formula exclusively until 6 months of age.

Pediatricians don’t usually recommend solid foods until 6 months of age. Ideally, breast fed infants mostly don’t eat solid foods at 4 months of age. Some formula fed babies start eating cereals at 4 months of age.We recommend eating fruits and vegetables and it should be very blended and soupy told Dr.Dyan Hes.MD, Board certified in Pediatrics and Obesity Medicine.

Do you know that babies have 3 times as many taste buds as adults? New born babies have 30,000 taste buds which are found on the surface of the tongue, sides, back and roof of the mouth! Weird fact isn’t it? Introduce a new food every week for them to have fun.

What about if the new food doesn’t works out for my baby? Diarrhoea is the most evil thing met by parent! Try giving the new food one time in a row of three days and it will be easier for you to find out which food doesn’t works out for your baby.

Fruit puree

Fruits should be well boiled,mashed and pureed for the first time when introducing to the child.

1. Apple Puree

Apples are well rich in soluble and insoluble fibre which helps maintaining the regular bowel moments. They are a lot of source of flavonoids antioxidants and vitamins A, C, E and makes a great way to avoid constipation and diarrhoea.

2. Banana Puree

Bananas are said to cure urinary tract infections and wash out all the toxins present in the bowel system of babies. They are rich in nutrients like potassium, magnesium, iron, folate, niacin and Vitamin B6. They help babies to gain weight.

3. Bartlett Pear Puree

They are high in fiber, potassium, vitamin C. The powerful sources of pear strengthen the function of golem and promote the proliferation of healthy flora in the gut. They prevent constipation and boost immunity too!

Vegetable Puree

Try buying organic vegetables instead of processed ones. Boil them and blend them to the thinest!

4. Potato puree

They provide judicial amount of vitamins and minerals. Potatoes are high in alkaline sugars so they can bring down acid levels in our body. They support fermentation in intestine and promote the growth of healthy interstinal flora. Vitamin C, starch and enzymes present in in potato mash help in nourishing the skin tissue as well.

5. Sweet Pumpkin

Pumpkins are a store house of vitamin A which improves eyesight. It contains carotenoids which reduce the risk of eye diseases. They are high in fibre and regulates bowel movements preventing constipation.

6. Peas puree

Peas are rich in vitamin A, B1, B6, K and Vitamin C. They are rich in magnesium, potassium, iron and phosphorus. They leads to boost bone health, build immunity and prevents constipation.

7. Moong Dal With Rice

Moong dal contains water, protein carbohydrate, sugar, iron, phosphorus, sodium, vitamins and riboflavin. It helps the intestine to cope up with the solids and enhance the process of digestion by improving the liver function, it also enhances immunity and boost metabolism.

8. Oats Meal

It is recommended for children at 6 months of age. Being high in fibre and nutrients, such as fibre, magnesium ,iron and Zinc,it promotes health, eases digestion and prevents constipation.

9. Ragi Porridge

It is a highly nutritious cereal which is packed with proteins, iron and calcium. It also contains acids like phenylalanine, isoleucine, leucine and methionine. They are good for bones and excellent for teeth, enhances digestion and prevents obesity.

The do and don’ts:

  1. Puree thoroughly:
    If your are introducing puree for the first time,make sure to blend them thoroughly to the thinest or add water.Even a little bit thick puree will be refused by your child.
  2. Try giving small 5 meals per day instead of 3 big meals– Your baby’s stomach is small and needs to be eating small amounts of nutritious food frequently.
  3. Complementary feeding is compulsory- even though baby starting solid foods, dene breast milk after main component of the diet for 12 months. Breast milk contains antibodies and still have immunologic factors. Breastfeeding lowers the risk of gastrointestinal infections, diarrhoea, diabetes, respiratory infections and asthma too!
  4. Honey is strictly off limits!– Honey contain botulinum toxin which causes botulism in children.Honey should not be given until 1 years of age.This can be extremely serious and be fatal too.
  5. Cow’s milk gets out of the list!- Cow’s milk should not be given until one year of age as it contains proteins which are not easily digested by babies.
  6. Whole nuts, popcorn and peanuts should be avoided- Since they are not easy to chew, your baby may develop choking. Peanuts may also be allergic to some children.

This topic brings me back to the mouth watering memories where my mother boils peanuts in the cooker and give us as a evening...
