Ghee is a word that comes from sanskrit which means “clarified butter”. It is found in ancient India, southeast asian cuisine, middles eastern cuisine and used in traditional medicine and religious beliefs.
Traditionally it is made from bovine milk of cows.

Ghee is an auspicious item for ceremonies and funerals. In the Mahabharatha, Kaurava is born from the pots of ghee.

Nutritional Value Of Cow Ghee

Ghee is predominantly made of 62 percentage of saturated fats. It is also rich in oxidised cholesterol. Ghee is of two types. Desi ghee which is also country made and vegetable ghee (modern ghee).

The unsaturated fatty acid profile is 22.8%. The vitamin A content ranged from 315 to 375 international units per 100g. Palmitic and oleic acid were the two main fatty acids. It is the main ingredient in some ayurvedic medicines.

Grass-fed cows produce cow ghee so it contains K2 butyric acid and CLA (conjugated linoleic acid). Conjugated linoleic acid is a natural fatty acid that has anticancer and antioxidant properties which helps in digestion and weight loss. The high concentration of butyric acid inhibits the growth of cancerous tumors.

2. Has Wound Healing Properties

Ghee and honey has been advocated and used as a dressing for burns in four Mumbai hospitals since 1991.
